Prices will be high until business travel comes back, which will slowly come back anytime from next fall (but definitely not before) onwards.
In the past the reason why you got $500 flights TATL it was because some business traveler next to you was paying $1500 in Y and $7000 in D1. They wanted schedule options and non-stop flights and made it possible for personal travel to fly based on whatever seats are available on the planes that were already flying.
Seasonally pre-covid you also saw TATL Y fares go to $1,200, just because the July/Aug mix between business and leisure is so different.
