Back on topic...the night was, IIRC, basically implied as compensation for the forced termination of the old card. Now, with respect, there is nothing stopping Hyatt from a unilateral extension of those certs once they're issued. Once they're in the hands of the customer, I'd like to know what grounds Chase would have for further interference.
Here's the T&C from one of the emails:
No special indication is given for the timeline of validity (maybe it would have been buried on the website...but I cannot help but feel that if I have to dig beyond the fine print in the email to find it, they're playing hide-and-seek with it.
If what you posted is true (Im not doubting that it isnt or You) and if the certs werent just issued why the hullabaloo now and not when everyone got it that its only for 6 months and not the 12 like it was till then? I would have been bloody mad if its a known fact that Chases certs have a 12M usage and bingo this showed up as only 6M. Again I wouldnt be mad that Hyatt didnt further extend them as much as not properly informing me to begin with or maybe the blame belongs to Chase or 50/50..
most folks know (at least those who fly often) you dont want to get it via an agent as the airline wont touch it and tell you to contact your TA. At times a TA can be helpful but I dont use them since Id hate to be Overseas run into Irrops and get the dreaded you need to speak to your TA we cant help you, sorry. So although the cert is sitting in ones Hyatt acct could be Hyatt cant touch them w/o Chases permission and Chase isnt interested in having them be 12M or extending them , yes Hyatt could switch them if they wanted to to one that they have full control over but I dont see that happening.
