Actually it just occurred to me that depending on when it might be in use it could get an admonishment from the FA... I've had AC and UA flight attendants ask me (some nicely, some not so much) ask me to take off headphones during take off and landings... I can only imagine how they would react to a VR headset.
As long as you're not wearing it during taxi, take-off or landing, they can ask but you're not under any obligation to comply because there are no US Federal regulations, or US airline operational policies that specifically prohibit the use of VR goggles during flight, but I would still personally be very uncomfortable being visually unaware of what is happening with my carry-on bags because you never know who has marked you at some point and is looking for the chance to get something out of your bag that they saw while you're distracted.
