I've done a fair bit of online digging and have yet to find something that appeals.
I’ve been waiting for others with more recent information to chime in, but my recommendation might be the Quinta Real, though it has been a while and it has changed name. This is a colonial ex-convent with courtyard gardens, close to the center of town (~2 blocks, iirc). Some rooms can be noisy, iirc, as they do put on events from weddings to dancing, but there are quiet rooms and I never travel without ear plugs. This place has lots of atmosphere, and is IMO ideal. I’d check recent reports in Trip Advisor, etc.
