There is no need for the Known Traveler Number to be in the reservation record in order for the passenger, even an infant, to use the Global Entry kiosks. All that's needed is to scan the passport in the kiosk (some kiosks now use facial recognition technology). The KTN in the PNR is primarily used for printing the PreCheck designation on the boarding pass, children under 12 are allowed to accompany adult companions in the PreCheck lanes.
