I'd recommend trying Nanbei next tine. One of the city's top luxury Chinese restaurants and they make very good drinks too. Instagram friendly from the entrance and the Chinese Valentine Moon gate LED lightshow is just enchanting.
I will make a point to try Nanbei next time!
Regarding breakfast, sometimes I ask for items off the menu. However I tend to do it when the menu is overly weak and/or when they require breakfast to be in the restaurant (not in-room dining) for example at Four Seasons Bangkok where I felt no shame asking. The menu at Rosewood was not overly impressive but not awful either and we were happy to be given the choice to stay in the room. The other issue is that when I do ask, I tend to keep my demands modest, for example a vegetable fried rice, but I would rarely dare asking for crab fried rice if the menu was poor to begin with.
