I don't want to fight the food court crowds in the terminal, and often don't have time for a sit down meal in the airport. To me, the whole point of the lounge is a one-stop refuge - a relatively peaceful and quiet spot to grab a quick bite and otherwise recharge prior to your flight.
These days, I would rather be in the terminal space than in a lounge; quite is not what I would describe for most lounge space.
Alternative could be getting food/drinks to go from the food court, and enjoy at an empty gate (easy to find these days).
