Tex Drive In has great malasadas too but I've had horrible experiences with their other food there.
The other famous place for malasadas on the island is the Punuluu Bake Shop on the south side of the island. Also a good place for lunch with good food and space to est outdoors and under cover.
Ive had good shave ice on Oahu but none on the Big Island.
Completely agree that Tex Drive In has wonderful malasdas, but NEVER order any other food items. If you are in Honokaa, Gramma's Kitchen is our go-to place. Unfortunately they now only do take out on Friday-Saturday-Sunday (we love their honey stung fried chicken).
