Fully agree. In case one runs into some kind of reluctance from the PAF officer, better to discuss politely as, at the end, they will have the final word.
This has been my thinking all along. How can France (even for an EU resident) legally deny a foreign citizen the right to leave French territory (assuming that he/she hasn't committed a crime)?

The one data point we have not seen so far is somebody like me, a non-French, EU passport holder who is resident in France who tries to leave France.

I've cited a few examples of friends Lebanese/French, Argentine/German, resident in France...who were able to leave presenting their non-EU passport.

A quick scan of my passport would show I live in France... especially since they have even more info about me being enrolled in Parafe....
