Qatar cancelled my flight on the DOH-MXP leg of my itinerary and automatically scheduled me on another flight.
It was supposed to be QR123 leaving at 01:30 AM. They've automatically put me on QR127, leaving at 08:35 AM which means I've got a 10+ hour layover now - far from ideal.
There is another option in their booking schedule which is QR069 leaving at 01:45AM to FRA and then onto LH0248 from FRA-MXP. However when I ask them to put me on there (prefer an extra layover in Frankfurt of 2hrs than a layover of 10 hours in DOH), they say their policy states they cannot put me on a 'different airline' if there's a direct flight available. This sounds pretty ridiculous to me as they offer the DOH-FRA-MXP route themselves on their own website? In theory I could apply for a refund and book a new ticket with the DOH-FRA-MXP leg but that is quite inconvenient as I have no clue when I will receive the refund. Does anyone have any clue what I can do?
I can't change it myself in MMB because Qatar says it's a schedule change and I haven't confirmed the change to QR127. Does anyone know if I let them know I 'accept' QR127 and 'change flight' becomes available again in MMB, I can just re-route myself to DOH-FRA-MXP?
The agent is correct that their internal policy doesn't allow rebooking on OAL unless IRROPS happens. You can only get rebooked on flights that are on the QR Timetable (

Since your original flight was cancelled, you can be rebooked
under the EOC policy, see the details below.
You're only entitled
1 free change per cancellation/significant schedule change so you can't just accept the changes and ask for another change later.
