No, not the same time or same ticket, but these are all ok:
BKK <> HKT is ok, same country
HKT <> KUL is <500 miles
KUL <> SIN is <500 miles
FWIW, they calculate the distance between the two destination points, not e.g. (DOH-XXX) - (DOH-YYY)
