Lifetime Titanium = Little Benefits!
I have been a lifetime Titanium member for the last several years. I have seen the number of lounges closed throughout the Bonvoy properties. It used to really be a benefit, but not so much anymore. Lots of hotels have replaced the free buffet to a continental breakfast which is just nitpicking in my opinion. The buffet food is there, and they just have to throw the extras out. Why not show Titaniums that you appreciate their business and give them the buffet?
I just returned from staying at the JW Marriott Cabo San Lucas Griffin Club. I did not get an upgrade, even though the hotel was at 20% capacity. The JW Marriott gives very little benefit for Titanium members. I also stayed at the JW Camelback in Phoenix. I did get a breakfast, but no room upgrade. I have an upcoming stay at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge in Phoenix. I will spend the first 5 nights using points and cash for a Griffin Club upgrade; however, I will be surprised if I get an upgraded room. My next five nights there will be in a basic room, and we'll see how that goes. The MSP Marriott Airport hotel has closed the lounge, and are not giving breakfast vouchers. This is disappointing. The JW Marriott near the Mall of America is giving a $40 voucher for breakfast, and their lounge is open for coffee, water, and soft drinks.
I've seen Marriott continually cut away at elite benefits. I wonder if any other chains have kept their level of service to elites?
