EWR is the 43rd busiest in the world so it has lower expectations.
Those stats are misleading in the context being presented. ORD carries much more due to it being a much larger airport, and 2 dominant carriers there (AA & UA). UA's traffic at both airports are similar to each other, ORD being more, but not in the sense of 6th vs. 43rd.
As far as UCs are concerned, ORD wins hands down. EWR UC near gate 74 is horrific, and I don't use the term lightly.
