I imagine flights will still be able to operate but not carry passengers into the EU. That was the case with various early bans in March. Thus, airlines would still be able to carry Brits back home. Whether they will is another question, as they'd have to operate empty flights one way.

On another note, I fail to see why is the UK being singled out, while other countries where this strain was identified don't face any restrictions.
