That said, used this at a HSBC in Mexico last Sunday. Received a message on the screen regarding a currency conversion rate and a HSBC commission. Would I accept? I declined. (I jotted down the conversion rate - lost my note - and the commission was 5.5%.) I thought that the transaction would be canceled. It was not; I received the MXD. Checked my account yesterday; the ATM fee was already credited and the actual withdraw was within about 50 cents of the Bloomberg published conversion rate. FYI and beware of such messages...
I have my Chase account transfer a small amount over to my Schwab account with every paycheck to address this concern and with my current no-travel situation the funds have built up quite a bit there as a result.
They also just started rolling out contactless debit cards, got an email about it yesterday and upgraded via Schwab.com and should receive the new one by the end of week/beginning of next week. Sounds like they've heard feedback on people wanting contactless as much as possible in the current environment so appreciate the move.
