This card has worked very successfully on 5 continents re: ATM withdraws. I do have to remember to transfer funds to the account because funds from an external source take 3-5 business days to be available, IME.

That said, used this at a HSBC in Mexico last Sunday. Received a message on the screen regarding a currency conversion rate and a HSBC commission. Would I accept? I declined. (I jotted down the conversion rate - lost my note - and the commission was 5.5%.) I thought that the transaction would be canceled. It was not; I received the MXD. Checked my account yesterday; the ATM fee was already credited and the actual withdraw was within about 50 cents of the Bloomberg published conversion rate. FYI and beware of such messages...
