First, I’d argue that on many routes, fares, including premium fares, are far below what they were 12 months ago, on all airlines. On some routes, coach fares are at fare levels I last saw maybe 20 years ago.

Second, I think AA, UA and even to some extent DL, have acknowledged that their primary incentive for continued reductions in premium class catering is cost savings. Each of them is continuing to burn through cash each and every day.
