While flights to Sri Lanka are currently suspended, since you can purchase an xonex to start up to 365 days in the future, maybe the poster is planning to start a rtw next September or October and is starting their planning now. Further, it used to possible to stay in transit in CMB and apparently transit is still possible even if entry is limited to citizens at the moment:
Take your point on planning in advance, but not sure how you'd check in for the first flight without clearing immigration.
