I am researching flights on United out of George Bush in Houston to Argentina. Arrival into IAH (from a local airport) gives about an hour layover before leg to Panama City PTY. We will have to change terminals in IAH (international terminal). Will there also be security here? Is there any type of immigration or addition screening when you leave the US? For infrequent international travelers, I worry an hour isn’t enough. Other option allows 3 hours. Thanks!

If 1 ticket its more of a problem for the airline.

USA does not have exit immigration procedures
UA at IAH will check you have the require documentation for entry to Argentina. With Covid-19 that may take more time than a year ago.
Airport PTY is not in Argentina.

Personally would take 3 hours, even if all on 1 ticket. 60 minutes does not allow any margin for delays. If 2 separate tickets would never consider 60 minutes.
