I would start at LAX so showering shouldn't be an issue as I would be able to shower at my friend's house before heading to the airport but I'll appreciate a shower at DFW where I'll have an overnight layover and do not prefer to pay the full night price for a hotel for 5-6 hours.

DCA-DFW-MIA-RDU is much cheaper. $112 and 1.8 cents for EQM.
Wide availability after 5 January 2020. You could visit both the Centurion Lounge in DFW & MIA.

Thanks for the tip--I actually have business in TPA... but maybe I need to drum up some business in RDU!

I am doubtful that DFW's showers will be open any time soon. You could try Minute Suites in a pinch.
