It's funny on that first Facebook thread posted above, the responses mostly seemed to be from infrequent flyers praising Delta for making them "feel safe". (I guess in the absence of data either way, just "feeling safe" is good enough?) Then in the second one, the comments are from an entirely different audience and they're not having it.

I presume when it's deemed "safe" to reopen middle seats, it'll also be safe to resume normal food service? Or, here's a thought - if the issue with serving soft drinks is the process of pouring them, how about just handing out whole, unopened cans?
