Hoping for some guidance to getaway....romantic-wise looking for a bungalow type place with private cottages/cabins directly on the beach as to avoid the mega lobbies and elevators....but with the food/service/amenities one would find at say an Intercontinental, on the west coast of Mexico (and also in Caribbean to explain the cross post). There are sooo many choices surfing I'm just overwhelmed so I figured I toss this out to the travel experts here. Would really like to earn some pts too (AA, Marriott, *Wood, PriorityClub, Hhonors) but not sure if they can fit the bill so it's not a must. Snorkeling and other water activities, light shopping, with mild nightlife available too......throw in some ruins and/or historical stuff and I'd really be a happy camper. Based in FLL but also can fly out of MIA on AA. Thanks!
