So whole I'm glad those properties are gone or are going, some I wish hadn't.
Longtime Kimpton loyalist. Also disappointed about the disappearance of Kimpton in DC. I’ve stayed at The Monaco since it opened. It’s terrific. One stay at Rouge several years ago. Had a suite with a kitchenette so it worked out very well. Otherwise I don’t think I would have liked it. Very noisy. No wine hour. Cold pizza in the morning instead but it ran out and wasn’t replenished.
Cancelled my spring stay stay at The Monaco due to Covid. Thinking about next spring and shocked to see the rates are more than double what I am used to paying for a similar weekend. >$500/night even with a special rate. There’s lots of competition in the neighbourhood now (as opposed to when the hotel opened). For example, a Conrad not far away with club level rates significantly cheaper than the Monaco and has good reviews. Sad because Monaco is pricing themselves out of the market, imo.
