And EWR. OAK-NYC is competition-free now for the first time in at least 20 years. It should be easy for UA to make that work (at least in non-pandemic times). My post was slightly tongue in cheek, and I don't actually expect them to return to OAK in the near term, but there are several reasons now seems like a good time for UA to go back into OAK. AA and B6 have left (for now) and DL and AS have a minimal presence. UA has a much larger customer base in the area than all those competitors and this would give them a way to further differentiate and entrench themselves. WN is largely a regional player so even with their dominance at OAK, the overlap with the UA route structure is relatively minimal, particularly if UA opened up routes like IAH/ORD/EWR. Obviously LAX and DEN are routes WN does and will dominate on.
