They system seems to have updated.
I was trying to request eUp since the email came out, getting the same error message as you until today.
I am still outside of my peasant 25 status booking window but I have now "successfully" request to be waitlisted, whatever the terminology is.
In my booking, it's now showing me that I'm "
Waitlisted for Business Class"" under my seat selection.
