Agreed, though it seems like they could have moved the door a bit farther forward on the NEO aircraft, however in most cases they seem to have just gotten rid of it entirely which is a bit odd.
I think the PW1100G on the neo sticks out farther forward than the IAE/CFM engines of the ceo. On the A321ceo, most airlines opted for a smaller 2L door if they knew for certain that they weren’t going to use it for boarding, and on some configs, the overhead bins went across the top of this shorter (in height) door too. Jet bridges are finicky enough to where you might have a costly accident even when there’s no operator error involved, so that’s why most operators didn’t opt to use 2L which would put the jet bridge very close to the engine.
