the problem is, i think they mean prior to the flight to the maldives, not prior to departure from country of origin. E.g. If I connect in Doha, the way it is worded, it's 72 hours prior to departure of doha flight, not NYC flight. Not to mention are they accounting for the time difference? Ugh what a mess
l had the same question and this is what my travel agent (specialized maldivian agency) just emailed me back with:
“Since the tweet is quite ambiguous we have reconfirmed this query as well. This is applicable to country of origin. Meaning that the PCR test must be conducted within a maximum of 72 hours prior to departure from your country of origin, in this case the USA.”
