From what you describe, Oahu is out. Big island is nice but is not my favorite. I really like Maui for the relative calmness but also having everything you need and being a nice size to be able to drive around and get to everything you want to see. Kauai sounds really nice but I have not been. I get the feeling it's like Maui but with less commercialization.
