That's a rental car thing not general commentary on build quality. Any rental car from any OEM is likely to be quickly beat to crap. My former daily driver was a Volvo S60 (previous generation assembled in Belgium, not the new South Carolina version). When I sold the S60 it had just over 90K miles and interior fit and finish was excellent; no loose trim pieces at all. But the average rental car starts to have issues by 10K miles.
I offer that the rental car mileage to odometer mileage ratio is about 6:1!
