Was this an automatic payment or did you manually schedule one? I'm wondering if Google is coding differently depending on how the charge is triggered... or if Amex has updated something on its end.
According to the CSR that I chatted with at Amex, "marketing" was aware of the issue with Google Fi but it was Google's responsibility to code the transaction properly.
