I think that the idea of doing something for healthcare workers is a great idea, and most likely kick started by the QR offer of 100,000 free tickets for healthcare workers.
I see a few issues with this though:
- The Avios will be given to nominated workers, some people might see the Avios that they receive as completely worthless, it might be better if there is some form of opting into it
- Given that the NHS gets to pick who will receive the Avios, might this end up getting taxed as a bonus? (I have no knowledge of this kind of thing so it is purely conjecture)
- Without some form of “education” for those who do not know the world of air miles, the value and usability might come as quite a surprise, the points raised by
CT-UK highlight the main flaws
