You're not missing anything. Are the cards alright? Yeah. Are they better than AMEX/Chase offerings? Not really. I wouldn't go out of my way to get this card (opening an account just for this). AMEX Platinum is good for perks and Chase Sapprhire Reserve is good for easy (but not the most generous) points earning.
I truly appreciate the time you took to spell out the information on the card. There are some attractive perks, including Boingo, which I used to use when it was an AmEx benefit, but nothing else that compels me to make the move. Now if they waived the annual fee for their Wolrd Elite card by funding an HSBC account, I may actually do so, as they have some competitive saving products, but their Premier card doesn't warrant the move IMO.
