Are you on Twitter? The Twitter team can be helpful. Let them know which segment is cancelled and tell them you need the itinerary cancelled and your ticket refunded to the original form of payment.

Agreed! I find Twitter extremely helpful and quick with all questions and concerns. I checked in via Twitter in March for April travel and at that time I would have received a credit, Once my flights were totally changed I called AA to receive the instructions for a refund and Twitter DM helped me get my miles reinstated. I actually received my $150 credit for the miles upgrade before my ticket refund.
