It's a mixed bag on the travel forums. There are some very ugly "stay away we don't want you" sentiments being expressed. The sad thing is, most of these are from posters I've interacted with for years. Posters who previously expressed thoughtful and balanced perspectives, were well reasoned and articulated their positions in manners that were diplomatic and non-offensive to a fault. In a space of a couple weeks some of them seem to have gone completely around the bend, to internet 'thug' mentalities, with zero tolerance for any position or perspective but their own. "Hostile" is generous. Some of the posts that I'd go so far as to describe as "menacing" and just this side of "unhinged". This wouldn't be so shocking if it were new posters or trolls. But largely it is not. This virus is really changing people.

I doubt it will stop me from traveling, once we're able to do so. But, sadly, yes, I'll probably be looking over my shoulder and around me more often for awhile. Making judgement calls on precautions I otherwise might not have previously. That sort of thing. :-(
