Yes, this is "fake news" -- or, to put it in other words, it's not the whole picture. They're testing so few people that there are probably many more who are actually infected than 7,000. I would guess that it's at least several hundred thousand. The death toll is probably higher than 401 due to delayed reporting, but as with all such data, this number only means that these people had tested positive for the virus at the time of death. It does not necessarily mean that covid-19 was the sole or main factor in their deaths.

The actual numbers are probably higher because of a lag in the information which is reported. But Sweden isn't the only country where this is the case. Some people believe that the true figure for Italy is twice as high as the official number.

Here's a great article about why the UK figures are all wrong due to delayed data: https://www.theguardian.com/world/20...-toll-is-wrong

NHS England figures – which currently make up the bulk of UK deaths – in fact reflect the day on which the death was reported, not the actual date of death, which is usually days, sometimes weeks, before it appears in the figures.
In my opinion, the biggest problem with Sweden is that they were not ready for any pandemic at all. Finland has huge emergency stockpiles of medicines and protective gear (https://www.svt.se/nyheter/hemliga-f...pslager-oppnas), while Sweden has nothing at all. Swedish governments have, over a long period of time, shown serious lethargy in preparing for difficult times.
