Yes. It's called Corporate Veil. You can pierce it https://lawpath.com.au/blog/corporate-veil-can-pierced but trying to hack your way into a refund of two distinctly separate businesses (even if one is fully owned by another) is almost certainly an invalid argument to do so before the courts.

Corporate Veil also exist in Singapore (Singapore Air need not take on the liabilities of Scoot) and Hong Kong (Cathay Pacific need not take on the liabilities of HK Express) also.
