I had the same email come through yesterday and I was extremely pleased by it. Having used the extension, I was already 10 stays in to the year to ensure that I was on the way to earning Diamond again this year. Was pleased enough with the extension to 2022, so them allowing the one time extension to be used again is very much a lovely bonus.
At times like this, we remember those who treated customers well and those who didn't. Hilton have done a great job here and I for one, will be happy to spend my money with them when travel plans return back to some form of normality.
