Given current policy, it should still be useful so long as enough people are deterred that it slows down the spread of infection. We're way past containment.
I don't think enough people will be deterred. My father, on the other side of the state from me and 70 in about a month, went out for groceries yesterday, even though they are well stocked. I know in a day or two, he'll want to go out to dinner, etc.
