This. If your dad stays home for the next month, gets non-contact food deliveries, washes his hands and sanitizes after doing so, and doesn't have any guests over, then he will be fine (at least as far as the virus is concerned).

But if you go see him, you could pick it up along the way without knowing it, and you could transmit it to him (before you show symptoms).

If it were me, I'd get the hell out of Mexico and get to some place near him in California, but I'd be real careful after traveling, before going around any senior citizens--even immediate family.
