I too read the reviews of the Marriott & Hyatt Nice properties, and was extremely hesitant regarding my trip last Sept. I ended up going with the Le Meredien and used a combination of Free Nights & Points. My stay coincided with the Ironman competition which took place directly in front of the hotel. Despite the race and crowds I was very pleasantly surprised at the room I was given (I'm only Lifetime Gold) and assumed I'd get a room facing the back alley. My room was on the 6th floor with a full on view of the sea along with a small step out terrace. I'm going back to Nice in May, and didn't hesitate to rebook the same hotel.
