Just for fun I tried changing my booking from LHR - AMS - CPT from Y to J and in the price offer, they charged £120 change fee.
There used to be a time when KL did not charge any fees for upgrading a ticket from Y to J, or from Y or J to F. Nor did other airlines, for that matter.
