If you're asking why would I want to cancel, then the answer is that Israel has started to ask people returning from specific Asian countries to stay at home for 14 days after returning to Israel. Currently that list is only China, Singapore, and Thailand, but I'm afraid that it'll eventually also include South Korea, Taiwan and Japan (all countries we are planning to visit in this trip).
we are on the exact same boat buddy. But I do have a DP that may help you.

Booked myself from JFK-ICN Asiana, before 31 Jan, they accepted the waiver and redeposited the mile back to my account already.

However, I booked my family of 4 same flight a day late on 1 Feb, they tell me I have to pay change/cancel fee. I decided to wait and see if Asiana will cancel the flight or issue a waiver on their end so I can negotiate with LM.

My family also have flight back from NRT- JFK on United need to cancel, that’s a 1600 cancellation fee in total if they don’t issue a waiver for this.

for you, if you made booking before 31 Jan, I would say give LM support an email, see if they can cancel it for you for free.
