You can list the person as the second guest and they can check in. There have been a couple times where i have done this (legit, I really did arrive after the second guest) and he was told I would have come down to the front desk in order to get the breakfast vouchers.
Is the breakfast voucher implementation wide spread? I’ve only encountered it at the DoubleTree Heathrow and even they aren’t consistent. Everywhere else I’ve been to has just allowed me to state my room number at breakfast.
