I think opinions will be divided on this -- the "opening up space" benefits have been abused by some, some use the +1 benefits a lot, and some of us value it highly the few times a year we use it to enable reasonable premium cabin travel on oft vacations. But I think we can all agree a clear system with consistent, useable application is required here. No more moving targets - large benefits changes year after year, particularly when they are consistently to the more restrictive, vastly diminish interest in maintaining the single carrier focus GS is meant to engender.
