I realize the first problem is my date is ONE DAY out of the current alert.... I figured I should wait a couple of weeks before I call but I still don't know what answer to expect from AA.

Thanks for any advice
I can only offer my approach on it. I am ticketed to PVG on March 31, so a somewhat similar situation. I am just waiting around for the waiver to get extended. DL has already waived flights into April, UA has matched AA's date, but I am thinking that before too long, AA might extend the waiver. The best part that I see about the waiver is that it seems that it would allow ticketed passengers to change the origin/destination to Tokyo or Seoul, which would work out just great for me. I have no insider knowledge of anything, but I am doing the same thing that you are doing and waiting a few weeks.
