Recently, I passed through Penn Station and noticed a contactless payment sensor on one of the LIRR ticket machines. But, for some reason, my attempt to buy my ticket with Google Pay failed to go through.

Edited to add: It looks like LIRR ticket machines can handle contactless payments with chip-based "smart" cards, but apparently not Google/Samsung/Apple Pay:
