My guess is the embassy wouldn't be able to help in this scenario and refer you to USCBP. I imagine flying to the US would cause a reset (and discover the error), but I would try a few other potential solutions first.

I would go to the I-94 website and see if there are options to correct/update a departure record. In cases such as traveling via land outside of the US, you'd need to do this manually, at least historically.

If there aren't apparent options on the website, call USCBP on Tuesday afternoon - today is a federal holiday - and ask how to correct the issue. Their number is +1 (202) 325-8000. A phone call is faster and probably a lot cheaper than a flight to the US.
