Atomized kerosene isn't something I'd want to be breathing in. There are many accounts of respiratory issues from airport personnel who have inhaled Jet A.
Maybe being exposed to it everyday on a constant basis I would agree. A very dispersed dusting for a one time instance, not so much. Yeah I'm sure it was traumatic for the kids and parents but I can't imagine any sort of long term issues for anyone on the ground.
