How so? The poster obviously is traveling on work and being reimbursed for the expenses.

Do you think you should not be paid even on a per diem reimbursement scheme now since your room is comped due to some major inconvenience / potential suffering?

I would not be so quick to make snarky comment before knowing why OP said "the government is paying for that". Many government contractors are hired on a per diem base. There is no reason for the poster to forfeit his per diem while he literally suffered meaningful inconvenience. The compensation should come from the property, not from the poster's own income.
