Yes, there is. Seat children with at least one parent or guardian at the time of booking regardless of fare purchased. Sorry, but this is more important than high-value customers getting good seats and would actually help prevent those customers from being moved by the GA to allow a parent and child to sit together.
Works great until the family books last minute and there are no two seats together, or there are a dozen families with small children and now you're forcing people to move again.
Or there are IROPS and the next flight with seats that can be guaranteed without moving people is in two days.
And I have a 12 y/o and a 2 y/o with special needs. But I also mostly travel solo. I've been on both sides of this, there is not a perfect solution. Best case is there are open seats together or someone volunteers to take a worse seat, but there is no solution that makes everyone happy
